Welcome to Ravenhurst University, located in the quite suburban town of Malvern, Pennsylvania.

Strange things have been happening here in this town, located just one hour outside of Philadelphia. People have been reported missing, and several lives have been lost already, the work of a serial killer on the loose. But people are going about their normal routine, not thinking that they're going to be next. But it keeps happening - the disappearances and murders are becoming more and more frequent.

Family, loved ones, friends, and enemies keep disappearing, sometimes unnoticed. It's unusual for this quiet town, where everybody knows everybody else.

  So last night, I dreamed that [info]florahart lived (with?) (near?) us and we were packing to leave. So I paid Kid One (Flora's) to pack all my books (which ended up multiplying so that when a door opened, the books poured out). To add to the weirdness, both of Flora's children were girls (though probably about right, age-wise). BTW, Flora, they were GORGEOUS girls. Just sayin'. :P

Oh, then we ended up getting orders to stay, so I had fifty billion boxes to unpack and it was snowing outside.

I know this isn't the strangest dream ever, but I do remember thinking inside my dream that there was something wrong with Flora's kids, and weren't they supposed to be boys and Flora just kept rolling her eyes at me and telling me I was imagining things.

There were also muppets. But I can't really remember what the hell they were doing (other than apparently I associate Flora with muppets?)

In other news of the strange, I was woken at 3:16 last night (I have one of those clocks that projects the numbers onto the ceiling, so I always know what time it is when I wake before the alarm) by something. As I was about to close my eyes and go back to sleep, I realised that there was a flickering light bouncing off the far wall, near our bedroom door.

Okay, it has become painfully (literally) clear I must see the ortho doc after all for my shoulder. We did laundry last night and it's back in the same condition as when I first came home from hospital - swollen, heavy, very unhappy. *sigh* So... we'll see what he says.

In the interim, the worst thing, aside from the uselessness of the arm (good thing I'm practically ambidextrous) is that typing ranges from painful to excruciating. If anyone knows where I could download a good, working speech-to-text program...?


In better news, Loyola University researchers have discovered Exercise Won't Cure Obesity. So finger to the obesity scare-mongers. People have been obese since the earliest of our days (check out the Venus of Willdendorf as example of what early man felt was divine or some more recent examples).

Yes, sometimes some can lose it, but statistically it's not worth stressing over. The stress (including the stress of dealing with the scare-mongering ignoramuses) will do more harm than the fat. Live easy... with others and with yourself. *That* helps more people than anything.

  Did anyone else hear of this?

Apple got all the record companies that have music in the iTunes store to supply the songs DRM-Free! The only catch is that they pick their prices out of a three-tier price system, 69cents, 99cents and $1.29. They project that by the end of this quater, March?, that all 10 million songs will be copy protection free.

Obviously I love the idea of DRM-free songs....but still I'm uneasy about this.

  Remember [info]hp_beholder? The fic / art exchange that focuses on relationships between characters who are often considered "too old, too fat, too ugly" to be popular? The one that was really fun and brought us lots of unexpected and wonderful stories and art?

Well...it's back! Or...almost. Signups will be starting on Thursday, January 29 and will run for a week. For the 2009 edition, the following timeline will be used:

  • Sign-ups begin - Thursday, January 29
  • Sign-ups end - Friday, February 6
  • Assignments get sent out - Sunday, February 8
  • Submission Deadline - Sunday, April 5
  • Posting Starts - Thursday, April 16

    This was last year's information post. Please take a look at it and familiarize yourself with the rules. Oh, and if you think that there's anybody you'd really like to add to the character list, leave a comment below.
